Ok ,now I know that I said that Entourage was the best show on television, but I must have had a brain freeze because I have been watching the West Wing since the beginning and I consider it to also be the best show on teivision. If I had to chose today Entourage would win, but when Aaron Sorkin was writing The West Wing no one could come close.

I finally saw the premiere episode this week ,because I normally work on Sundays and here are my thoughts.

1.The flash forward in the beginning wasn’t bad but it would have been nice to see Abby, Sam and Donna in that scene.

As far as the rest of the episode:

2. Leo – I hope they strengthen his character, this guy was supposed to be the political mastermind of the party, no way Santos treats him like that. The money that he can bring to the campaign alone would deserve more respect then he is getting.

3. Josh/Donna – wow, what a great moment, had to be done by Josh, but painful. I can’t believe Donna’s comment about being good at creating policy, she wasn’t that good at it.

4. Past character appearances – good to see babich and joey lucas again. I would love to see a few appearances by Amy Gardner, what a great character.

5. Toby – they really have to do something with him, I can’t take too many more episodes of him moping around. This guy was great once – they need to get him back!

Overall, a pretty good episode, but still not what it used to be. I think that the writers and directors should all go and watch seasons 1-3 to understand the level that the show should be at.

Can’t wait for the Live episode with Alda and Santos and especially can’t wait to see how they use Bartlet in future episodes.

President Bartlet Quote:

More than any time in recent history, America’s destiny is not of our choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people’s strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arive. 44 people were killed a couple of hours ago at Kennison State University. Three swimmers from the men’s team were killed and two others are in critical condition. When, after having heard the explosion from their practice facility, they ran into the fire to help get people out. Ran into the fire. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They’re our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we’re reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. this is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars. God bless their memory, God bless you and God bless the United State of America. Thank you.
