The winter of 2008 will be an interesting one for television.

With so many current shows at or near the end of their seasonal run, due to the staring contest known as the writers’ strike, the schedule is going to look a bit different. Not only will it be filled with more reality shows, but it will also contain some untested scripted programs that have been waiting for the mid-season to air.
Nevertheless, not all is doom and gloom come the new year. There will be many favorites returning to the airwaves, although they may have shortened seasons. For instance, shows like Medium, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Lost, Monk, Psych, and, yes, even According to Jim, will be returning to the schedule. Then there is the anticipated return of Jericho and, of course, another season of show-killer American Idol, which may not have any competition at all this year.

  1. Wow, how bleak. I watch Ghost whisperer (don’t ask me why)I didn’t know Scifi was running a Flash Gordon show.I will be tuning into to Conan tonight and when Jon Stewart and Colbert return I try to catch them too.

  2. Thanks for the info.  I love good sit-coms (is that an oxymoron?), and I am so enamored about "The Big Bang Theory".  I probably should have kept that to myself, but I just love the fast and furious one-liners.  Any word on whether they will continue?  CBS has a history of hits and I hope this will be one of them.  Peace.

  3. We might well call this season over.  There seems to be no end in sight to this strike.

  4. Hey Moe – "King of the Hill" – I thought this was canceled? – Please read the Cincinnati Enquirer TU 1.8.08 (Pg A2) on what the creator/writer stated about the "Wire"; it’s under the Britney Melodrama headline –
